  • After completing an educational degree in 2005, Deepinder started a delivery startup company named Foodlet. But unfortunately, the startup did not work well, and eventually it was closed.
  • In January 2006, Deepinder started his career as an associate consultant in the Bain and Company, as a Senior Associate Consultant. He ended up working for the company for about three years till 2009.
  • Deepinder came up with the concept for Zomato while working at Bain and Company, where he observed a high demand for menu cards among his coworkers. He decided to take a lower salary and reduce his involvement with the consultancy in an effort to revitalize his startup in the latter part of his time at Bain. 
  • In July 2008, Deepinder and Pankaj Chaddah, began working on Foodiebay, a website that provides restaurant listings and recommendations. This platform later changed its name to Zomato. In November 2009, he formally left his role at Bain and Company.
